BC Prison Escapee Rabih Alkhalil Still at Large, Reward Increased Temporarily
Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers has partnered with a national program to offer a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the capture of Rabih Alkhalil, who escaped from a prison in Port Coquitlam, B.C., in 2022.
Crime Stoppers is collaborating with the Be On The Look Out Program to provide potential tipsters with an “extra large reward” for information about the whereabouts of Alkhalil, who is wanted for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and being unlawfully at large.
According to the program’s website, Alkhalil is a “very dangerous criminal” who escaped from the North Fraser Pretrial Centre in July 2022 while on trial for first-degree murder.
Alkhalil was convicted by a jury a month after his escape but remains at large. It is unclear whether he is still in Canada or abroad, as he is known to use fake identity documents and passports.
Crime Stoppers reports that Alkhalil’s escape was facilitated by two men posing as contractors at the jail, and he is also the subject of an Interpol Red Notice.
The Bolo program’s website states that the reward is available until December 3, 2024, and tipsters have up to a year to claim the reward if their information leads to Alkhalil’s arrest by the RCMP.
