Cuba Announces Deployment of Russian Warships to Caribbean Next Week
According to the communist regime, none of the ships carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in our country does not pose a threat to the region.
The Cuban foreign ministry confirmed on Thursday that Russian warships will be deployed to the Caribbean Sea next week.
In a statement, Cuba’s foreign ministry affirmed that the four Russian navy ships do not have nuclear weapons and will not be a threat to the region, as reported by unnamed U.S. officials.
The ministry’s statement mentioned that Russian sailors will meet with various Cuban government officials, visit places of historical and cultural significance, and engage in other activities.
As of now, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministry have not released public comments on the impending visit.
One day after an unnamed U.S. official disclosed plans for Russia to send combat vessels into the Caribbean region, including to Cuba and Venezuela for naval exercises, Cuba made this announcement.
The Russian ships are scheduled to arrive in Havana harbor sometime between June 12 and June 17, as per Cuba’s announcement.
