Israel claims to have eliminated one of the few remaining high-ranking members of Hamas
The Israeli military reported on Friday that it had carried out an airstrike in Khan Younis, resulting in the death of senior Hamas official Izz al-Din Kassab. The military described Kassab as one of the few remaining high-ranking members of Hamas who was responsible for coordinating with other groups in the Gaza Strip.
In response, the Palestinian terrorist group released a statement mourning the loss of Kassab, mentioning that he was killed alongside another Hamas official named Ayman Ayesh in the Israeli attack on their vehicle in the enclave.
Sources within Hamas informed Reuters that Kassab held a local leadership position within the group in Gaza, but was not part of its decision-making political office.
