Majority of Parents in ‘Million March For Children’ Identified by Recent Poll, Reports David Krayden

Commentary:
A recent survey suggests that those who participated in the recent marches for parental rights and against gender ideology in schools are not part of a radical fringe group, but rather the majority of Canadians. The #1MillionMarch4Children in Ottawa saw a diverse crowd of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, and others coming together to support parents and defend the rights of children. Unfortunately, there were counter-protests, organized in part due to a video conference call by Ontario union leaders supporting LGBTQ forces. These counter-protesters accused the parents of hate and labeled them as fascists, completely disregarding the importance of parental involvement in their child’s education.

The Angus Reid survey shows that 56 percent of Canadians still believe in the concept of biological sex, rejecting the idea that a person can simply wake up one day and change their gender. Similarly, only 35 percent of Canadians support the concept of gender fluidity, with the majority recognizing the importance of biological sex. There is also limited support for biological men competing in women’s sports, as only 31 percent agree with this policy.

The survey also indicates that there is little approval for gender hormone therapy or chemical castration for trans youth, with only 20 percent of parents and the general population supporting such interventions. While 69 percent of parents said they would accept their child’s desire to change their gender, they want to be involved in the decision-making process. Canadians also reject the use of Orwellian language such as “birthing people” to describe pregnant women.

Despite the significant support shown during the Million March for Children and the findings of this survey, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau chose to condemn the protest and label the parents as haters. The Liberal government is clearly waging a cultural war against Canadians on various fronts, from euthanasia programs to internet censorship. Trudeau should listen to parents and accurately gauge the sentiment of the nation on this issue.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is listening to the concerns of parents, even if he did not attend the parental rights march. He rightly believes that parents should have the final say in the values and lessons taught to their children, and criticizes Trudeau for demonizing concerned parents. It is time for the federal government to listen to parents and address these important issues.
