Montreal Police Capture 20-Year-Old Suspect Linked to Jewish School Shooting from Last November
Montreal police have apprehended a 20-year-old man in connection with the gunshots fired at a Jewish school in the city in late 2023.
In November of that year, authorities discovered bullet holes in the door of Yeshiva Gedola and bullet casings on the ground, following the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict earlier that month.
Three days prior to this incident, the same school in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood had been targeted by gunfire.
The suspect was taken into custody in the city’s Lasalle district and was brought before the court on charges related to discharging a firearm and stealing a vehicle.
At approximately 5 a.m. on November 12, 2023, witnesses saw the suspect firing a weapon towards Yeshiva Gedola before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Earlier in the same month, another Jewish school was subjected to gunfire and a synagogue was firebombed.
