Possible Adjustments Coming to Costco Food Court Enthusiasts
Costco’s food courts have long been relaxed about allowing non-members to enjoy its offerings like poutine, ice cream cones, and more.
However, if the wholesale stores in Canada follow the lead of those in the United States, Costco’s renowned $1.50 hot dog combo deal may soon be restricted to club members only.
One commenter mentioned, “They’re already preventing non-members from entering the food court area without showing a membership card here in Ottawa.”
While a Vancouver Costco allows non-member food court visitors, some other stores in B.C. insist on all customers having a membership.
As another Reddit user noted, Canada often follows American policy implementations, but there may be some discretion by individual warehouse managers.
The Epoch Times reached out to Costco Canada for confirmation on whether this policy will be implemented in Canada but did not receive a response by press time.
If Costco does enforce this approach in Canada, it will mark a departure from its previous stance suggesting non-member food court usage could lead to new memberships once visitors see the store’s offerings.
If this policy is implemented in Canadian Costcos, food court enthusiasts will need to consider the pros and cons of obtaining a membership. For those who plan to both shop and eat, the membership could be a worthwhile investment.
An annual basic membership costs $60 while an executive membership is $120.
For those who simply want to enjoy their favorite food court without shopping, the $1.50 hot dog deal will become much costlier.
