The path of a solar eclipse will pass over parts of Canada on April 8, a rare event that won’t recur for 80 years, according to Canadian space experts.
About 50 years have passed since the last total solar eclipse, as forecasted by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), with the next one expected in 2106.
This eclipse’s “path of totality” will cross through regions in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland on April 8. The path of totality signifies the areas where the sun will be completely obscured. During this time, there will be moments of total darkness, as mentioned by CSA.
For those outside the path of totality, a partial solar eclipse will be visible, where the sun won’t be completely covered.

“Montreal and the Niagara Region have emerged as two of North America’s most booked destinations for the solar eclipse weekend,” as stated by the company in a news release, highlighting the significance of this eclipse for Quebec after over 50 years.
Anticipated to last approximately a minute and a half in Montreal, this eclipse presents a once-in-a-lifetime viewing opportunity for the city.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls, a popular destination for sky watchers, will enhance the solar eclipse experience with additional attractions. Following the celestial show, a significant rock performance featuring the Niagara Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to take place.
