US Authorities Probing Plane Crash in Nashville That Left Five Canadians Dead
U.S. authorities are currently investigating a plane crash in Tennessee that resulted in the tragic deaths of five Canadians.
The incident involved a single-engine plane that crashed beside a highway west of downtown Nashville on Feb. 4, claiming the lives of all five individuals on board.
According to Investigator Aaron McCarter from the National Transportation Safety Board, the flight originated in Ontario, and among the passengers were three children.
In a recording of radio transmissions, the pilot can be heard informing air traffic controllers that the engine had failed, he had passed John C. Tune airport, and attempted to circle back for a landing.
Although a runway was cleared at the airport, the pilot indicated that the plane had descended to 1,600 feet, and he was too far away to make a successful landing.
Global Affairs Canada confirmed that they are aware of the reports regarding the deaths of five Canadians in Tennessee but could not disclose further details due to privacy concerns.
