Biden may consider debating Trump

President Joe Biden on Friday seemed willing to engage in a debate with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who had challenged the Democrat to debates “anytime, anywhere, anyplace.”

“It depends on his behavior,” Biden told reporters as he left Washington for Philadelphia.

This comment indicated that he did not rule out the possibility of debating Trump before the presidential election on Nov. 5.

In typical presidential election years, the Commission on Presidential Debates usually arranges and holds three debates. During the 2020 contest between Biden and Trump, the two men debated twice but the third debate was called off.

Two years ago, the Republican National Committee decided to withdraw from the commission’s debates following complaints from Trump about the timing of the events, debate formats, and the selection of moderators.

However, Trump issued a challenge to Biden on his Truth Social media platform on Wednesday.

“It is important for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate issues that are so vital to American, and the American people,” Trump wrote. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!”

Trump had declined to take part in any debates when facing challenges for the Republican presidential nomination.
