Former Democratic Representative Creates Organization for ‘Fatigued Majority’
Former Democratic congressman and Senate candidate Tim Ryan has launched a new nonprofit organization called We the People 250 Action Fund. The group aims to mobilize the “exhausted majority” in the United States and move beyond the current political discourse. It plans to focus on promoting new ideas and practical solutions to the issues facing America. We the People will not prioritize pushing candidates forward, but instead plans to set up policy events and promote pro-democracy dialogue among voters. The organization aims to build a sustainable, citizen-powered organization and will announce board members in the coming days. Political strategist Steve Schmidt, a co-founder of The Lincoln Project, is reportedly advising the process. Ryan, who lost his bid for a Senate seat last year, did not rule out future attempts at political office.
