Habba Criticizes DOJ’s Release of Trump Info as a ‘Publicity Stunt’, Says Newsmax

Alina Habba, a spokesperson and attorney for former President Donald Trump, criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) for leaks and a “publicity stunt” regarding grand jury proceedings related to Trump. Speaking on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE,” Habba expressed concern that information about the proceedings was being revealed in the press instead of being reported by the attorneys involved. Habba suggested that leaks and statements from a DOJ spokesperson on Twitter about a private grand jury investigation were anti-American and indicative of a corrupt justice system.

The DOJ had just announced a superseding indictment against Trump, adding one defendant and four charges related to the retention of National Defense Information and obstruction of justice. Carlos De Oliveira, another person implicated in the obstruction conspiracy, was also added to the indictment. The indictment alleges that Trump, De Oliveira, and Waltine Nauta attempted to delete surveillance video footage at Mar-a-Lago in 2022. De Oliveira was additionally charged with false statements made during an FBI interview.

Habba argued that the DOJ’s behavior warranted dismissal and raised concerns about prosecutorial misconduct. She described the situation as “disgusting and inappropriate.”
