Hunter Biden Plea Deal Released by Judge
A federal judge has released the proposed plea deal of Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, after rejecting the deal last week. The judge, Maryellen Noreika, granted a request by an NBC reporter for the full plea deal to be made public. The leaked version of the proposal had already been widely shared in the media. The plea deal included Hunter Biden pleading guilty to tax charges and avoiding a gun charge. However, Judge Noreika said she needed more time to review the agreement before making a decision. After rejecting the deal, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to pay taxes on over $1.5 million in income in 2017 and 2018. Republican lawmakers have expressed concern over the failed plea deal and have announced an investigation into its circumstances. The judge has also ordered that attorneys communicate with her chambers instead of the court clerk, following an incident where an employee allegedly misrepresented their identity during a phone call to the clerk’s office.
