Multiple Falls by McConnell This Year, According to Report
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly fallen two other times this year, in addition to the fall that resulted in a concussion and fractured rib. The first fall took place in February in Finland when McConnell tripped and fell while walking towards a meeting with the Finnish president. The incident occurred on a snowy day and McConnell dusted himself off and continued with the meeting. The second fall occurred in March at a hotel in Washington during a fundraiser, which forced McConnell to take a nearly six-week break from the Senate. The most recent fall happened earlier this month at an airport in Washington while McConnell was trying to depart an airplane. Despite these falls, McConnell appeared to be okay after each incident. McConnell’s recent moment of freezing during a news conference has raised concerns about his well-being and prompted comparisons to other lawmakers like President Joe Biden and Senator Dianne Feinstein, who have also experienced health-related issues.
