Whatley, Supported by Trump, Enters Race for RNC Chair

Michael Whatley, the endorsed chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party by Donald Trump, has officially thrown his hat in the ring to succeed Ronna McDaniel as chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

The anticipated announcement comes after McDaniel’s decision to step down from her leadership position next month. Whatley declared his candidacy in a message sent to RNC members on Monday, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

In his message, he stated, “I believe that my experience in driving voter turnout and upholding election integrity in North Carolina, along with my tenure as RNC General Counsel, have prepared me adequately for this role. Being endorsed by President Trump for this position is a true honor, and I aim to earn your vote as we tackle the vital task of winning elections in 2024.”

Pledging to focus on enhancing voter turnout and strengthening the RNC’s efforts in safeguarding election integrity, Whatley reiterated the importance of a robust legal strategy to combat voter fraud. This approach aligns with the RNC’s substantial investment in its Election Integrity Department.

“Our priorities should revolve around registering new voters, mobilizing voters to the polls, and maximizing every opportunity to increase our margins in key states across the nation,” he emphasized.
